RAIN
‘Twas when I saw the mighty sky
Shutting its majestic eye
Slowly in a mighty wink.
As the icy wind took wing
To its hole the mole did sink
And the nightingale soon ceased to sing.
In a thrust, out of the sky
Shot an arm that struck so nigh
Faster than a mortal’s eye…
The radiance did stupefy!
Soon came the mighty roar
like a tiger’s at a boar
As it ‘gan to gently pour.
Soft and in amazing ease
In a low mellifluous hiss
Earth and sky did unite
Ceasing long into the night.
