FOR A LOST LOVE

FOR A LOST LOVE

As weary I grow in my final fight
I know I shan’t outlast this frightful night,
For men twice wiser lived but none exists,
Who by his wit contrived life from death’s mists.
Dark and dreary have been my fondest dreams
Dearer than reality, so it seems
For there blossoms the desires of men
There, cowards conquer and make the brave flee
And lepers dare to ravish the king’s wife!
And the crippled stride with grace and new life
As a strong swimmer gives himself to th’sea.
Twice have u assailed my heart, Sophia
And twice abandoned me, my heart unfed
A sullen saunterer treading so near
At the precipice of losing my head.
The ripper’s chariot approaches swiftly
The sharp stench of death quickly fills my breath
But strong inscribes my pen resplendently,
“I’ll pine for you still, in life and in death
And though ne’er in briefest time were you mine
Forever your name’ll grace my grandest line.”
